Cannery - Vancouver, BC

We paid a visit to the Cannery, hopefully we'll visit again before they close next year, it will be sad to see them go as this is one of the best classic seafood restaurants in vancouver.

Ahhhhhh, you can't beat the Lobster Oil, i don't know what i'm going to do when they close......hehehehe, we walked out of here with 6 bottles of this goodness, at $25 / bottle, it was worth it.

this is their seafood platter for 2, at $18.50 per person, it's just okay, the mussels weren't the most fresh, surprisingly for a seafood restaurant. The ones we made at home earlier in the week was much better, i advise anyone, if you want shellfish, go to Lobster Man at Granville Island, you'll never be disappointed in their quality.

this is the grilled squid starter, it was very very good, so tender, yet so good. i recommend this to anyone.

A signature dish at the Cannery, their Salmon Wellington, i asked for a side of their lemon butter sauce in addition to the pinot......so yummy. the salmon was a bit dry, but understandably, very difficult to time. i love this dish and have had it many times in the last few years. i pdf'd their recipe from their web site for my own collection.

Grilled Halibut Cheeks, i think it was just okay.

Grilled Sockeye with spicy butter sauce. the best dish of the night, the sockeye was cooked perfectly, just past done inside, so it was so tender and juicy still.

Overall, it was a good meal. i'm sad to see them go, but i intend on returning before they shut down. service was good, but the surprising thing is that our server was a young man, he tood my order first, i'm a guy, i regret not telling him that he should be taking the orders of all the ladies first, then the guys, we had 5 females and 3 males at this meal. oh well, perhaps someone can remind him next time.

Cucina Toscana - Richmond, BC

Cucina Toscana on Urbanspoon

We've had guests over for the past 2 weeks, so, we've been taking them all over the place. My mom found this Italian restaurant near Garden City and Cambie, this place used to be located in kerrisdale according to their web site. This place is Taiwanese from what i was told.

So this place has 3 course specials for $35. There was lamb rack, sirloin, and prime rib. We also ordered pasta and gnocchi. Overall, this place was good, but not great, i don't think we'll be back, it was just too basic. The place looks nice inside, the service was a bit spotty, the girl was overwhelmed since it got real busy. The place has a nice upscale feel to it, but the service is short of it. One example is after the starter, we placed our fork and knife on the plate, expecting that she would take the plate and setting away, she asked us to take our fork and knife off the plate, we told her to change it. Overall, this place was just okay, decent good food, but it just didn't wow us. also there wasn't really anything in terms of a special of the day.

Spring New Szechuan Cuisine - Burquitlam

New Szechuan Restaurant on Urbanspoon

Hey, this is my first post so, please bear with me. we went to a little hole in the wall in burquitlam. overall, you'll find that the food isn't all that bad, some good, some not. but i thought it was a good experience. would i recommend this place? actually i would. service is okay, nothing special. but there's a few dishes that i had here that i haven't tried anywhere else. sorry for the poor photos,
